Natalia Drobot

Natalia Drobot (°1984) is a Belgian visual artist and PhD researcher originating from Belarus. She was born in Minsk, in the former Belarusian Soviet Socialistic Republic. Growing up in a family with her father a lieutenant colonel in the Army of Belarus, she became very interested in the military culture. As a teenager, besides her secondary school, she studied at the Minsk Art Academy. In 2001 Natalia started her study at the Belarusian State Pedagogical University of Minsk, at the Faculty Folk Arts. During Perestroika, the time of changing and new dreams, she stopped her study and took a sabbatical to travel through Europe. In 2008, after 5 years of working as an au-pair in Germany, The Netherlands and Belgium, she started her studies at the Provincial University College of Limburg, Hasselt, Belgium. She graduated as a Bachelor and Master of Fine Arts. In 2013 she started her PhD research, driven by her fascination with the Soviet topic in Modern Art.
